It was an honour to have been your bridesmaid Cousin Jean even though it came about through a bit of emotional blackmail - I think I asked if I could be a Princess !! Auntie Alwyn went and stitched my dress back to front as well which didn't help the cause. I think I was only about 3 at the time but I have very vivid memories of that day and a photograph of me in that dress with your Mum (Auntie Elsie to me) still stands proud on my bookshelf.
The family will always be indebited to you for the huge amount of hard work and perseverance you gave to creating our family tree and I am so grateful that you took time to send me a copy a few years ago. I will treasure it forever. I will think of you now having a good laugh (and probably an argument or two) with my Dad (your Uncle Harry). Rest in peace Cousin Jean. With love and best wishes Auntie Alwyn, Cousin Sarah and husband David. xxx

Jean and I go back many years, first as a dynamic duo in th nursery, my much respected colleague. Then as close friends. I can only echo many of the sentiments already expressed - resilience, compassion, humour, loyalty, that was Jean. We have been through ups and downs together, and she has always been more concerrned about my wellbeing than her own, and I know there are many others who would say the same. What a gap she has left, but when I feel sad and lost without her I will remember her rallying cry - "We're women,we can do this!"
Goodbye dearest friend
